Would you like to learn how to deal with
a potential knife attack?
knife
crime is on the increase. Recent events in the media
have highlighted the problem and recently a celebrity
in the public eye was one of the latest victims. |
 |
Since
the discovery of primitive metals a blade has been
used as an offensive weapon. The blade is the choice
of many conflicts. It is concealable
and used most of the time stealthily.
Most victims never see the knife coming before
they are stabbed.
Because
80% of stab victims never see the weapon coming,
It is important the first defence against a knife
attack is awareness of ones surroundings and environment.
Positioning is paramount.
Awareness
of a situation whether sudden or escalating must
also be taken into account. An incident can irrupt
immediately or develop over time. When we go out,
we should be switched on to potential situations
and avoid known trouble spots. If you are aware
of your surroundings, you can make the right choices
and also not rush into a potential dangerous situation.
Communication
and rapport skills are also useful to master. 99%
of all conflicts begin with one common factor and
that is a break down in communication. The majority
of conflicts can be talked down with the right tact.
An
overlooked way of dealing with conflicts of this
nature is the education of possible bystanders.
There have been many cases were bystanders get hurt
during an attack or fuel the problem. Education
of what or what not to do is a great way of combating
the problem. |
